Verified identity through OpenReview
An optional connection that ties your account to your research identity, for the workflows that check it.
Connecting OpenReview ties this account to a real research identity. The network's core machinery (coordination, consent, membership) runs without it. It exists for the workflows that check identity. A private network might require verified researchers from a specific set of institutions, and OpenReview's author-maintained records are one of the cleaner sources for that check.
Why OpenReview
Tiptree is the first organization to partner with OpenReview on a sign-in-with-OpenReview flow. We built it because identity verification matters for the ML community, and OpenReview holds the ground truth: submissions, reviews, acceptances, records built by the publishing process itself. A Google Scholar page is weaker evidence. You cannot prove you own one, and a Harvard email next to a same-name Scholar page proves nothing.
What connecting it checks
It reads your OpenReview profile, your verified email addresses, your affiliated domains, primary and secondary, and the public profile metadata that disambiguates researchers who share a name. The domains matter in practice. Researchers carry multiple affiliations, lab aliases, and institutional domains that do not match their login email. Checking both layers is how a network matches you to an institution without fuzzy name-matching.

Separate from your profile
Your researcher profile is Althea's working model of your background and interests. OpenReview is closer to an identity stamp. It says who this account is, so networks can trust who they are connecting.
The same rule runs through Lacuna's author pages, which use OpenReview as their identity anchor and treat external databases as recall sources rather than authorities. Identity comes from records researchers maintain themselves.
Setup is Settings → Integrations → OpenReview; disconnecting removes the stamp and touches nothing else.
